The Berkeley Student Cooperative, BSC, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit housing cooperative. The BSC provides affordable housing and board to students at UC Berkeley and other Bay Area colleges and universities.
The mission of the BSC is to provide a quality, low-cost, cooperative housing community to university students, thereby providing an educational opportunity for students who might not otherwise be able to afford a university education. Presently the BSC has over 1300 student members living in or eating at the seventeen houses and three apartment cooperatives around the UC Berkeley campus. Each house is democratically run, and we all contribute our labor to help keep housing costs affordable.
The LEAD Center’s Cooperative Involvement and Leadership Development Coordinator works to expand the LEAD Center’s support to the BSC community.
There will be a number of BSC and LEAD Center events to get involved in, ranging from full day teach-ins to mixers and discussions. Contact the LEAD Center for additional information or to get involved. You can also contact The LEAD/BSC Dream Team for additional information, to make program suggestions or to get involved.
